Dr. Robert S. Rauch, “Dr. Bob," was an
inspiring guide for living life to the fullest, loving others with
all his heart and fighting to the end. He touched countless lives as a
dentist, author, coach, public speaker, consummate camp councilor, Civil
War buff, magician, mentor, friend, father and husband.
He
fought a seven-and-a-half year battle against cancer and remained strong
and positive throughout. Following his 2005 diagnosis with appendix
cancer (Pseudomyxoma Peritonei), he underwent two eleven-hour surgeries,
cyberknife, radiation and thousands of hours of chemotherapy. Through
it all, he continued to run his dental practice, travel the world,
support his friends, speak on behalf of cancer research and laugh every
day. When he woke up in the morning he asked the question “Is this going
to be a great day or a really great day?” The decision, even at the
most difficult times, was to have a really great day.
We will
all miss his infectious enthusiasm for life, warm, comforting smile and
apt story for any occasion. In that vein, we have created this website
in order provide a forum for those whose lives he touched to share their
stories. Dad loved you all, and through sharing these stories, we hope
to keep the cycle of love and laughter alive.
Thank you for your love and for touching our father’s life.
